It's no secret that the ability to cultivate funds is key to the success of nonprofits. There is an abundance of grants available to nonprofits including corporate grants, foundation grants, and government grants. However, many nonprofits lack the skills or resources to find grants, craft a winning proposal, and ultimately secure funding to further their missions.

Join us for our three-session virtual Grant Writing Certificate Program to expand your knowledge and develop the skills needed to prepare a winning grant proposal. Whether you are new to grant writing, or want to improve your skills, this workshop is for you!

Learning Objectives:

•Learn about the different types of grant funding
•Learn about the components of a grant application
•Learn the basics of grant research
•Get hands on experience developing a grant application
•Receive feedback on your application from the instructor (Up to three pages of a grant proposal draft will be reviewed by the instructor per participant)

Agenda:

Day 1

  • Introductions, Trends, Organizational and Programmatic Preparation to Grant Seeking
  • Key Components of a Grant Proposal (Overview, Grant Format, Organizational Description, Needs Statement, and Program Description)

Day 2
Review, Key Components of a Grant Proposal (Program Description, Program Evaluation) and Budgeting

Day 3
Review proposal with instructor and break-out room discussions. Also funding research and grant strategies are taught.

Class Materials/Preparation:

  • Come with a program/proposal idea in mind: Participants of this series will be expected to complete outside coursework each week, as they work on their specific proposals. Particiants will receive temporary access to Foundation Directory Online through TNP to help search for a grant proposal.
  • Participants will be provided with a digital copy of the grant writing workbook. To receive a printed copy of the workbook, please register by October 4 and include your mailing address with your registration. Registrations received after October 4 are not guaranteed to receive a workbook before the class start date (October 13).
All three sessions must be completed to earn the certificate. See Attendance Policy below for more details.
