Government Grants for Nonprofits (An Overview)

Two-Session Workshop: May 19 & 21; 9:00am - 12:00pm (Virtual)

Applying for a government grant at the city, county or federal level can be a daunting experience, but can also be an excellent learning opportunity and potentially result in increased credibility and resources for your organization.

This two-day virtual interactive workshop will provide you with an overview of government grants – from finding potential funding opportunities, registering to apply, making sense of RFPs (Requests for Proposals), planning your project and completing the application process itself. To gain the most from this learning experience, it is recommended that participants have some experience with grant proposal writing, minimally at the foundation level.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this workshop, participants will have increased knowledge related to:

· How government grant proposals typically differ from foundation proposals
· Common components of government grant proposals
· How to find appropriate government funding opportunities
· Understanding government Request for Proposals (RFPs)
· Increased skill in developing competitive grant proposals
