Nonprofit 101

Two-Day Workshop: May 12 & 14 (Wed/Fri); 9am - 12pm (Virtual)

We welcome new staff, board members, community members, and other volunteers or funders to join us for a look at what makes a nonprofit organization a “nonprofit!” Move beyond the mission to learn how nonprofits operate as a sustainable business while staying true to their commitment to their community. We’ll discuss the different types of nonprofits, the elements and structures of nonprofit organizations, the role of the board, fund development and sources of income, and why nonprofits are so important to our communities. At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will have a baseline understanding of nonprofit organizations and the current environment in which they operate.

We will also discuss:
· Legal requirements for California Nonprofits
· Organizational structure, How to govern; Boards, Staff and Volunteers
· Top issues, best practices, and current affairs in the nonprofit sector
